Cole Hamels is staying in Philadelphia. On Wednesday morning, the veteran lefty and the Phillies agreed on a new six-year deal worth $144 million. The deal also includes a club/vesting option for 2019 and a limited no-trade provision. FoxSports.com first reported the deal.

Amaro not giving up on Hamels or season
Ruben Amaro Jr. downplayed reports that he is shopping pitcher Cole Hamels on the trade market. The Phillies' general manager said he still hopes to sign the free-agent-to-be to a contract extension.

Cole Hamels has been suspended five games by Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig for admitting that he threw intentionally at Nationals rookie Bryce Harper Sunday night in Washington (see story). He will not appeal the ban, according to general manager Ruben Amaro.

TORONTO - The Phillies will send four players, and possibly five, to the All-Star Game on July 12 in Phoenix.
The bulk of the all-star rosters were announced Sunday afternoon. Placido Polanco was voted by the fans as the National League starting third baseman. Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels were all selected to be on the NL’s pitching staff.
