ESPN Reports Pete Rose Bet on Games He Played #MMBSports
ESPN says it has new evidence that Pete Rose bet "extensively on baseball — and on the Cincinnati Reds — as he racked up the last hits of a record-smashing career in 1986." The evidence is in the form of pages of a notebook seized from a former associate of Rose during a 1989 raid by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Rose was banned from baseball in 1989 after it was found he was betting on games as a manager. Rose denied that he bet on baseball for the next 15 years, finally fessing up in 2004.

WATCH: Ichiro collects 4,000th hit #Yankees
In the first inning of Wednesday night's Blue Jays-Yankees game, Yanks outfielder Ichiro Suzuki grounded a single through the the left side and in doing so notched his 4,000th career hit across the U.S. and Japanese major leagues.
Ichiro, of course, joins Pete Rose and Ty Cobb as the lone players to achieve the feat, although Rose and Cobb compiled all of their hits in the U.S. major leagues.
Coming into Wednesday night's game, the 39-year-old Ichiro was batting .274/.308/.362 on the season with 18 steals in 21 attempts.
Coincidentally, the hit you see above was Ichiro's 2,722nd of his MLB career, which moved him past Lou Gehrig and into 59th place on the all-time list.

Oakland A's Josh Reddick vs WWE Daniel Bryan beard-off
Oakland Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick. WWE wrestler Daniel Bryan. Two men. Two impressive beards. But only one face-mane will remain at the end of this year. And it will be the public's votes that determine which one stays ... and which submits to the razor.

Delmon Young Signs One-Year, $750,000 Deal With Phillies
The Phillies finally found a right-handed-hitting corner outfielder with power.
But this one comes with baggage.
On Tuesday the Phillies and Delmon Young agreed to a one-year, $750,000 contract. The signing screams low-risk, high-reward for the Phillies. Young, who is just 27, earned 2012 American League Championship Series MVP honors with the Detroit Tigers and hit .267 with 18 home runs and 74 RBIs in the regular season. He also had a career-high 112 RBIs in 2010 with the Minnesota Twins and has a career .824 OPS against left-handed pitchers.

‘Screaming savage’ makes return on Braves’ batting practice caps for 2013
Paul Lukas of Uni Watch has an exclusive look at all 30 new batting practice caps for 2013. It's more or less a forgettable bunch, but there are admittedly a few gems — Mr. Met taking residence atop the Mets' new lids, a red maple leaf occupying Toronto's new look and an Arizona mish-mash of old and new that should be adopted as everyday in-game headwear.

Are The Rays Looking To Move James Shields?
The Rays owe James Shields a $9 million salary in 2013 and hold a $12 million club option on him for the 2014 season.
That’s well below market value for a reliable starting pitcher like Shields, but Tampa Bay has a very limited budget and would do well to deal from a strength — rotation depth — to patch up a couple pf weaknesses.
Shields, 30, had a 3.52 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 223/58 K/BB ratio in 227 2/3 innings this year. He finished third in the American League Cy Young Award voting in 2011 after posting a 2.82 ERA over 249 1/3 frames.

MLB blames Superstorm Sandy for leak of new Houston Astros logo on team’s site
The Houston Astros' new logo for 2013 and beyond may have officially just moved from baseball's "worst-kept secret" to "common knowledge." That's because a visit to the team's website on Tuesday morning revealed that every player page contained the team's new logo as well as a picture of the player wearing a hat that was poorly photoshopped onto his head.
