John Legend is a multi time Grammy Award winner and the executive producer of the new film "Southside With You" but before all that he was John Stephens. John had just recently signed a new recording deal and was now going by the name John Legend. The legend of John however was only beginning. I had a rare opportunity in my early stages of doing radio and eventually podcasting to sit down and speak with John about the new album and even touch a little bit about politics. Something I knew he was passionate about but honestly did not know how passionate until we started talking.
This interview has only been played one other time on air many years ago on WDBK radio when I was a student volunteering at the station. This MMB Radio Throwback Thursday special is something that I hope you will all enjoy. It may not be as polished as some of my other interviews but being one of my first major interviews it was an honor and privilege to not only speak with John but also see him perform later that night.
