Phillies Hamels Suspended 5 Games For Beaning
Cole Hamels has been suspended five games by Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig for admitting that he threw intentionally at Nationals rookie Bryce Harper Sunday night in Washington (see story). He will not appeal the ban, according to general manager Ruben Amaro.

The scoreboard outcome of last night's Phillies-Nats series finale was an enjoyable 9-3 in favor of the invaders, and Cole Hamels and Bryce Harper put on a fun show that has continued to stoke the flames of a new rivalry this morning (see Nats GM Mike Rizzo's comments on Cole here) -- “I’ve never seen a more classless, gutless chicken [bleep] act in my 30 years in baseball." -- but a painful moment for Jayson Werth put a damper on the night for [most] fans of both sides.
