Oscar® winner Whoopi Goldberg, will make her Wizard World debut
at Philadelphia Comic Con, June 20-21 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
With dozens of television and film credits, including “The View,” “Star Trek:
The Next Generation,” Sister Act, The Color Purple, and a wide range of
talents and accomplishments, Goldberg is known to millions as an actress,
comedian, host, producer, author, activist, and
singer-songwriter.
Goldberg began performing at age eight in New York
with the Children's Program at the Hudson guild and the Helena Rubinstein
Children's Theatre. Her successful Broadway show led to her being cast in
Stephen Spielberg's The Color Purple, earning Goldberg the 1985 Golden
Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Dramatic Motion Picture. She
has also starred in such motion pictures as Jumpin’ Jack Flash, Burglar,
Fatal Beauty, Clara’s Heart, Ghost, The Long Walk Home, Soapdish, and
Robert Altman’s The Player.
Her TV career began with an
appearance on a 1986 episode of “Moonlighting,” which earned her an Emmy Award
nomination as Best Guest Performer in a Dramatic Series. Honored for many of her
guest spots, Goldberg also earned acclaim for her recurring portrayal of the
sentient bartender “Guinan” in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” from
1988-1993.
Today, in addition to her tireless humanitarian efforts on
behalf of children, the homeless, human rights, substance abuse and the battle
against AIDS, as well as many other worthwhile causes and charities, Goldberg
has gained a fervent following as co-hostess of the daytime talk show “The
View.”
At Philadelphia Comic Con, Goldberg will greet fans, pose for
photo ops, sign autographs and conduct an interactive Q&A during the event.
She will appear on Friday evening, June 20, and the full event day Saturday,
June 21.
