It was reported a couple years ago that WWE was interested in trying to buy the Harlem Globetrotters. Obviously, despite interest, the parties were unable to come to terms. At the time, WWE’s inquires were rebuked but now, the franchise is now seeking a buyer.
A lot has changed since WWE previously had interest and while Vince McMahon was looking to pick up other entertainment properties, that philosophy is out the window after Linda McMahon’s Senate losses and Triple H’s rise to power.
The Globetrotters contacted WWE to see if they were interested in a deal similar to previous offers but WWE turned them down. One observer commented how they “couldn’t imagine” WWE being interest given the change in landscape.
