Slidell Police Officers will wear commemorative Super Bowl badge
Slidell Police Officers will don commemorativeSuper Bowl XLVII badges starting next week in preparation for the NFL’s big game Feb. 3 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Assistant Police Chief Kevin Foltz said Thursday. The badges are gold and feature the Super Bowl XLVII logo, along with the Vince Lombardi Trophy and the words “Slidell Police.”
Foltz said some Slidell officers will help the New Orleans Police Department with security before, during and after the game on Super Bowl Sunday. The NFL authorized a commemorative badge to be made for police agencies that were approved by New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Ronal Serpas, Foltz said.
Officers bought the badges for $94, Foltz said, and Slidell Police Chief Randy Smith will allow his officers to wear them from Jan. 14 through Feb. 12, Foltz said. He said the badges are numbered for tracking purposes.
“I am very excited about being able to take part in such a large national event and look forward to being able to showcase the professional men and women of the Slidell Police Department as they assist with this widely watched event,” Smith said in a prepared statement.
