Reports: Shane Victorino signs with Red Sox

Former Phillies centerfielder Shane Victorino is on the verge of signing a 3-year, $39 million deal with the Boston Red Sox, multiple outlets reported Tuesday night.

The deal, according to USA TODAY's Bob Nightengale, is pending a physical.

Victorino played 7 1/2 seasons in Philadelphia, helping the Phillies win the World Series in 2008 and earning spots in the All-Star game in 2009 and 2011. Over his nine-year career, Victorino has hit .275 with a .341 on-base percentage, 195 doubles, 65 triples, 90 home runs and 409 RBIs.

The Flyin' Hawaiian hit .255 with 11 home runs and 55 RBIs in 2011 before he was traded in a July 31 trade deadline deal to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for reliever Josh Lindblom, pitching prospect Ethan Martin and infield prospect Stefan Jarrin.
