Plane over PSU: Take down statue or we will

Twitter erupted Tuesday after a plane with a banner sporting an ultimatum to Penn State University was spotted flying over campus.


“Take the statue down,” the banner read in all caps, “or we will.”

The statue in question, of course, is the likeness of Joe Paterno that stands outside Beaver Stadium. In light of the recent findings of Louis Freeh’s report, the statue has received a lot of attention in recent days. The university even had to issue a denial of reports that it had formally elected to keep the statue in its current place.

Penn State has yet to respond to the act, but it will be interesting, as Deadspin points out, to see whether the plane’s message at all sways the school to remove the statue.
