The Phillies are interested in pitcher Kerry Wood as a "possible late-inning relief option," according to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.
The Phils could aggressively begin pursuing Wood if setup man Jose Contreras can't sufficiently recover from elbow surgery, writes HardballTalk.
Wood, 34, had an ERA of 3.35 last season, with a 1.29 WHIP in 51 innings for the Cubs. He initially accepted a one-year, $1.5 million contract from the Cubs, but things have apparently somewhat deteriorated on that front.
