Beyoncé and Jay-Z's latest collaboration has arrived -- their first child, Blue Ivy Carter.
Hip-hop's power couple reportedly gave birth to the bouncing baby girl Saturday night at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. Though no official confirmation has come from the notoriously private couple -- maybe they'll confirm that they got married now? -- their friends were all over Twitter Sunday, offering congratulations.
"Welcome to the world Princess Carter!" tweeted Jay-Z's protegeRihanna.
"Welcome to the world Blue," tweeted the Carters' close palGwyneth Paltrow, whom Beyoncé has called "a great support" during her pregnancy. "We love you already."
It's fitting that Twitter became the source of news about Blue Ivy's arrival, considering how Beyoncé's announcement of her pregnancy at the MTV Video Music Awards in August remains the biggest moment in the history of the service. The event generated 8,868 tweets per second on Aug. 28, outpacing the execution of Troy Davis and the death of Steve Jobs.
Beyoncé has said she's ready to be a working mom, telling New! magazine, "I have always said I will work my career around my children and not the other way around.
"I have always said that I want to have all my children by the time I am 40 so there's still a lot of time left," she told the British magazine. "There is an attraction for sure about having a large family but we will just have to see what we are blessed with."
And the rest of us will likely have to wait to see what Blue Ivy looks like. Jay-Z proudly kept "Watch the Throne," his album with Kanye West, under wraps until its release last year. He will likely hang on to information about his baby girl even tighter.
