After the Philadelphia Flyers pulled off two blockbuster trades, the team signed goalie Ilya Bryzgalov to a nine-year contract extension
Bryzgalov will make $10 million in the first year of his deal, and will be the highest paid player in the NHL next season.
The Flyers traded centres Mike Richards and Jeff Carter on Thursday in order to clear salary cap space for Bryzgalov.
Bryzgalov played 67 games for thePhoenix Coyotes during the 2010-11 season, finishing with 36 wins, a .248 goals-against average, and a .921 saves percentage.
The 31-year-old goaltender was acquired by Philadelphia on June 7th in exchange for a third-round draft pick in 2012, forward Matt Clackson and future considerations.
