Philadelphia Union Name Bimbo Jersey Sponsor
As many of you may know or not know I am a jersey collector. I love the color schemes and designs used to give a team an identity, but something I have always hated was sponsorships. I understand why they are done, but just cannot stand when a company's name is plastered all over the front of a team's jersey. The team's identity is now a cooperate billboard. Sadly, it was announced today the Philadelphia Union of the MLS will now become a Bimbo Bakery billboard. In the long run it will help both parties gain exposure and financial gain, but still ruins it when you are not sure if it is the Philadelphia Union on the field or the Bimbo National Team.
BIMBO prominantly across the front positively ruins the jersey. I wanted to buy the jerseys for my 4 year old boys, but forget about it. I'll get last year's jersey. Even if it is pronounced Beembo, I don't want to have to keep explaining that it's not BIMBO, but Beembo and that this is a sponsor, not a knock on female kind. Andy why the hell is the sponsor bigger than the team logo???
