Before the 2008 NFL season, Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Johnson legally changed his name to Chad Ochocinco so that he could wear the nickname for his number on his uniform.
Johnson originally gave himself the Ochocinco nickname in 2006 as an indirectreference to his No. 85.
On ESPN’s “NFL Live” on Tuesday, Chad Ochocinco said that the name change was fun, but that he is going to go back to Chad Johnson.
"I don't have a choice right now," Ochocinco said. "I've done enough with the Ochothing."
Johnson, err Ochocinco, said that the name change is not official yet, but that it will be soon.
Just when the Chadster’s new name was becoming standard among fans, now he has to get back in the news and change his name back to Johnson.
In addition, it is going to cost the NFL’s jersey supplier big bucks to change back all of the Bengals No. 85 jerseys from Ochocinco back to Johnson.
Fans that purchased Ochocinco jerseys and tossed their Johnson jerseys are not going to be too happy about it either.
What’s next, Chad Fünfundachtzig (German), Chad Quatre Vingt Cinq (French), ChadOttanta Cinque (Italian), or he could have seem real fun and cause some chaos with both printers and announcers with Chad Bосемьдесят пять (Russian).
Good old 85!
